It’s Christmas Eve in the hospital.
Specifically, Memorial Hermann in the Woodlands, Houston. All seemed normal on December 21st. That’s our anniversary, 51 years. Tanya and I held church service at the Duncan Unit, Texas Department of Criminal Justice. That has become our church. More on that in a later Blog. Then we had supper with family, Tanya’s sister, Melanie and our bro-in-law, JD.
Monday started out laid back, restful, anticipating the days of Christmas celebrating the birth of Jesus. I went to the store. There I was pushing the cart around getting a few things, Tanya called. She was hurting, “Come home.” I left the cart. She was moaning, hurting. Nausea had caused straining, and perhaps, we don’t know for sure, this started the brain bleed. Then her words were confused, the start of expressive aphasia and some blurred vision.
A trip to our primary care facility, our nurse walked us back to our car and pointed a mile away to the ER of the hospital in Lufkin. ER quickly took her to the Trauma Room. Then transferred by ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands, Houston.
Tanya had more CT scans, MRIs, consultations. Then today, Christmas Eve, 36 hours later she had a diagnostic angiogram.
Tanya’s sister, Melanie sent out the following message with my edits,
“Ok team,
The report,
Diagnostic complete. They found nothing that needed an additional procedure. They want to see her in 3 months. It will take that long for the bleed to liquify and absorb.
Prob will have speech and PT during that time. It will take all that time for language and vision to improve.
Hoping for release tomorrow. The ICU doctor/team will decide.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness and prayers.
You are special.
Love you
There have been more people praying than I know. Churches, pastors, prophets, apostolic leaders, disciples, so very many prayer chains, dear and trusted friends, family, our prison church. Calls from so many across many states. Text messages from across the world. Our “church” family. The Body of Christ is praying and supporting.
Thank You dear God for hearing, answering our prayers, being our String Tower that we are able to come into and thank you for the Shadow of Your wings. Our comforter, our healer, praise your Holy Name.
Bless you
so, we go home to Lufkin tomorrow, Christmas Day. We will celebrate with family on Friday.
