STILLNESS IN THE NOISE

This Sunday morning, Tanya and I are staying home.

We will bind the next manuals for the prison School of Ministry. After these, I will lecture through the remaining material as I did for more than forty years in the university. The men will listen, take notes, and complete written exercises.

So, this will not necessarily be a quiet day.

But stillness is not the absence of activity or noise. It is the settled presence of God within us while life continues around us.

“Be still, and know that I am God.”
—Psalm 46:10

Those words were not written amid perfect calm. The psalm speaks of roaring waters, shaking mountains, and raging nations. God offers stillness in the middle of the noise—not merely outside it.

We do not have to retreat to a monastery to find Him. We may find Him while washing dishes, binding manuals, caring for someone we love, or carrying out the assignment He has given us.

The world around us may remain noisy.

But the soul can become quiet.

Stillness is not where we escape life. It is where we meet God within it.

Walk with me.
